ELECTRIC RECLOSER REPLACEMENTThe Berlin Electric Distribution Department recently replaced one of the 800 amp reclosers which was damaged by lightening during storms in July and August of this year. The reclosers act similarly to the main breaker in your home by protecting the circuits "below" them. WASHINGTON STREET RECONSTRUCTIONThe long awaited reconstruction of Washington Street was completed recently by the Town of Berlin. This project was an extensive undertaking that involved the replacement of sidewalks and new paving on the street itself. The overall project was started in 2009 with the replacement of 1600 square feet of sidewalk at a cost of approximately $12,000. Flower Street Utility Pole RelocationJanuary 27, 2011 The Berlin Electric Department is relocating seven existing utility poles to enable a new sidewalk to be installed from Showell Street to Henry Park on Flower Street. The Town of Berlin recently rededicated the anchor from the USS Decatur, a decommissioned Forrest Sherman Class Navy warship. The anchor is located at the main parking area of Berlin’s Stephen Decatur Park.
